Sheet of the manuscript of Santiago de Cárdenas (Callao, 1726 - Lima, 1766), an inventor considered a precursor of aeronautics and ornithology in Peru.
The document presents the studies and observations of De Cárdenas about the anatomy and flight of birds, such as the vulture and the condor, from which he proposes the construction of a mechanical device that would serve for human flight. The document presents corrections and erasures on most of the pages, as well as some illustrations or prints.
This manuscript suffered burns in the fire at the National Library of Peru in 1943.
