This artwork by Annelie Solis depicts a map of our celestial sphere. Designed like a traditional world map, it features the north and south celestial poles at the top and bottom, respectively, with the transformation from a globe to a flat rectangle causing slight distortions at the edges. The artwork portrays the 88 modern constellations defined by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), with star sizes reflecting their relative brightness. At its centre, the ecliptic plane runs through the composition, integrating the artist’s interpretations of zodiacal symbols and creating a fusion of art, astrology, and astronomy.
