The wooden masks are inspired by the characters from mythology, Gods and Goddesses that the villagers in Uttarakhand worship. Using a measuring tape, the artisan marks the places where different features of face will be carved. The process to draw and measure the wooden piece is called ‘Naksha and Napayi’.
