The techniques for producing fine quality handicrafts, such as flowers, hats, baskets, and bags woven from processed coconut palm and pandanus leaves, are fading into oblivion as craftspeople move to cheaper and quicker modes of production. The project involved the documentation of traditional techniques and a mentoring program that pairs handicraft experts with trainees.
