Proclamation issued by Major-General L. B. Friend, Commander of Troops in Ireland, ordering a state of martial law in Dublin City and County, including Curfew from 7.30 p.m. to 5.30 a.m.
By Friday, 28 April 1916, Friend had been replaced by General Sir John Maxwell, hastily despatched from England to take over command of British Troops in Ireland.
