Mask, collected by Victor Bandeira in 1961 among the Dan (Ivory Coast), at the time of his first expedition in Africa, from which resulted a collection that was later acquired by the Museum. To a large extent, the first thirty years of the history of the National Museum of Ethnology are inseparable from that collecter, namely for the fact that he was responsible for bringing together more than 5,000 items for the Museum's collections in the 1960s and 1970s. Over 700 of those 5,000 items correspond to donations by Victor Bandeira and his dedication to the Museum is clear in the fundamental role he played in the organization and making of many of the Museum's exhibitions until the early 1990s.
