(A) Long strip of matting about three quarter inches wide with a fringe on one side for joining. Made by the women from the fronds of the "Mkindu" tree. Cut by women using a big knife and an axe and wided into tiny strands by using an awl which is woven by hand and the strips joined using a (B) Sack needle. Mats used as bed mats and for resting on the ground and used by the family.
