Mañjusri represents the young Boddhisatva (enlightened individual) in ceremonial dress, seated serenely in the wirāsana position. His right hand rests on his knee in waramudrā (gesture of granting blessings), while the left hand, enclosing the stem of a lotus with a book of highest wisdom on its top, is symbolizing witarkamudrā, a gesture of debate and discussion. Mañjusri is associated with wisdom, teaching, and higher awareness. This silver statue, has characteristics of North Eastern India style, and is extremely rare when it comes to ancient Indonesian art.
