Medicinal plants

This is the yellow horned poppy, Glaucium flavum, which can be found in the Medicinal Beds at the Botanic Garden. It contains glaucine, an alkaloid which has bronchodilator and anti-inflammatory effects. The whole of this plant is poisonous.
