The medium-sized or "bachelor" brougham was considered the most practical of formal vehicles, and as a result was one of the most widely used carriages in the late 19th century. One of the first carriages brought to the Frick family’s original carriage house, this stylish Medium-sized Brougham was made by Brewster & Company, a prestigious New York firm known for its elegant, high-end vehicles. It was purchased in December 1881 while Henry Clay and Adelaide Frick were on their honeymoon trip.
