  • Title: Members of the Indian-Mexican-American Puna Singh family
  • Date: 1945
  • Story: In the early 20th Century, Indian immigrants settled in the U.S., marrying other immigrants and racial minorities. Along the west coast, Punjabi men married Mexican women. In the east and the south, Bengali traders settled in neighborhoods such as Harlem, West Baltimore, and Tremé in New Orleans, marrying Creole, Puerto Rican, and African American women. Today, their descendants are a living record of this blending.
