South Brisbane, Australia

The Queensland Memorial Card Company produced individualised keepsakes for families whose sons had perished in the First World War. This is one of two cards which commemorate the lives of William and John Fraser, brothers from Cooloolabin near Yandina, Queensland, who were both aged 27 when they were killed. A keen amateur aviator prior to the war, elder brother William travelled to England where he completed pilot training, and served in the Royal Flying Corp. William was shot down behind enemy lines in France on 25 October 1916, and died of wounds sustained in the crash. He is remembered at the Arras Memorial in Arras, Nord Pas de Calais, France.
