The Queensland Memorial Card Company produced individualised keepsakes for families whose sons had perished in the First World War. This is one of two cards which commemorate the lives of William and John Fraser, brothers from Cooloolabin near Yandina, Queensland, who were both aged 27 when they were killed. Younger brother John enlisted in June 1917, served with 52nd Infantry Battalion until it was disbanded in May 1918, then transferred to 49th Infantry Battalion. He survived gas attacks but was killed in action on 12 August 1918. John is buried in the Point 80 French Military Cemetery, now known as Cote 80 French National Cemetery.
