Glassware, much of it still intact, was found in 34 graves excavated near Rhenen. The small glass bowls and beakers date from the 4th to 7th centuries AD, and they therefore show glass in the transitional phase from Roman to Merovingian times. Merovingian glass was made primarily in green hues and displays numerous impurities. It is sparsely decorated, generally with glass spirals in the same colour as the glass and with relief obtained by blowing the glass through a ribbed ring. This beaker is made of greenish-yellow glass. It is decorated with spirals along the upper rim and at the bottom.
