A group of men and women are having a party, with music, food and drinks. They are all fashionably dressed – even the servant on the left filling the beer glasses. The elegant man in the middle is turning to face the viewer while exhaling his pipe smoke. The Delft painter Anthonie Palamedesz painted several of these elegant merry companies, depicting townspeople eating, dancing and playing music.
