Mesolithic Microlithic Tools and Shell Decoration from the Mala Triglavca Abri (Divača)

Koper Regional Museum

Koper Regional Museum
Koper, Slovenia

The Mesolithic is the period at the end of the Ice Age, in which occasional shorter glaciations still appeared. In the wake of climate changes, the fauna and the economy of man began to change as well; humans started making more complex tools. The remains of these tools have been preserved as microliths or small tools made of various types of rocks, which were inserted into handles and hafts made of wood or of other easily decomposable organic materials. The connection between man and nature is also demonstrated by the decorative necklace made of snail shells.
