Milan Stefanik was a hero to the Slovak community, having been a renowned scientist who later served in WW I. He also lobbied extensively for the independence of Czechoslovakia. Stefanik's statue originally was situated near the Cleveland Museum of Art but had to be moved because of construction work there.
