Digital circuits ordinarily consist of a mix of logic gates, transistors and microchips. A digital signal operates using a finite set of possible values between 2 and any number less than infinity. Generally, a digital signal will use just two values, one high voltage value and one low voltage; this is a binary form of signalling. Whilst they are normally easier to design than their analogue counterparts, digital circuits are often more expensive to build.
