Ma Changli was born in Shanhaiguan, Hebei Province in 1931. He graduated from the Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1953, and later taught at the school. In 1961, as a graduate student, he continued his further study in the Oil Painting Research Class of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. After graduation in 1963, he taught in the Department of Oil Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts and served as deputy director and acting director of the Department of Oil Painting of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Now he is professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, director of the Chinese Oil Painting Society, director of the Chinese National Minority Art Promotion Association and member of the Chinese Artists Association. In this work, the blue color makes the upper part of the picture colder, outlines the distant mountain scenery, while the lower part of the picture is slightly warmer, making people feel the warm sunshine on the grass vaguely.
