Model of a Hawaiian outrigger canoe carved from one piece of highly polished brown Koa wood. One paddle. Inscribed metal plaque "TO / PRESIDENT FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT / FROM / HAWAIIAN - JAPANESE CIVIC ASSOCIATION / JULY 1934." Mounted to the top of the plaque is a multi-colored enamel shield. Presented to FDR in July 1934 by the Hawaiian Japanese Civic Association. FDR Library Museum Collection, MO 1941.7.113.
