The Kayasthas were a Hindu community that were close to the formal Muslim establishments of Islamic courts across the subcontinent, and were probably the closest of Hindu communities to the Muslims. Mostly involved in writing and literary pursuits of such courts, and as administrators, they formed the cultural and landed elite in the Indo-Saracenic scheme. The man here wears a long Achkan or Shervani in the Islamic style with churidar-style trousers. The woman appears to be wearing an ensemble similar to the woman in the model with the Jeweller couple from Delhi, except that the skirt seems to be less heavy here, even if with a gold border that is possible an embroidered embellished element.
