This photograph was published alongside an article authored by Satyan and in Newstime, 1988, titled ‘Oh! These Monkeys!!’. Here, a group of langurs (monkeys) are perched on an ambassador car. All of them face the right side, while some have their young clutching onto them and others are busy grooming and scratching themselves. The clearly visible number plate on the car reads ‘Tourist Taxi RST 19’. The scene, a clear sky and a mountain in the background makes one question who really is in control- Is it the blurred silhouette of a person inside the car who can move the vehicle at will or is it the animals on top of the car blocking movement?
