Monument to Dean Charles Fotherby, Christchurch Cathedral, Canterbury, Kent

The monument to Dean Charles Fotherby is located in the Lady Chapel or Dean's Chapel in Canterbury Cathedral. Fotherby became Dean of Canterbury in 1615. He died in 1619. His tomb features alabaster carvings of human skulls and bones. This photograph was taken by the German-born photographer Bill Brandt, who photographed for the National Buildings Record during the Second World War.
