Monumento Estacio de Sá

The memorial to the first governor of Rio de Janeiro, Estacio de Sa, was installed in 1973. Built by architect Lucio Costa, it consists of an obelisk-shaped pyramid with a vertex pointing to the exact place of foundation of the city. At the bottom of the monument floor there is a lounge that values ​​the main symbol of the Portuguese military: his tombstone.
