Between May and August, the harvest season required a tremendous amount of labour. The harvesting process was carried out by a workforce comprising men, women and young people from the surrounding area, as well as labourers from other regions. The ratinhos, men and boys from the Beiras and Douro regions, came specifically to harvest.
