The Tatra chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra tatrica) is a rare mountain goat-antelope found only in the Tatra Mountains of Poland and Slovakia. Agile and sure-footed, it lives on rocky alpine slopes above 1,200 meters. Recognizable by its curved horns and dark winter coat, it’s a symbol of Tatra wildlife and a protected species due to its limited range and past population decline.
