A week before Alaniz arrived to Amsterdam for the first time, we had a visit from his friend in Berlin. Karlito managed to freak out the residents by painting in blues and purples all of his sadness and unhappiness. Residents revolted and demanded to ”make a monster go away".
So we had no choice but ask Alaniz to 'squeeze' an extra wall in, before he commenced Tolerance.
This is the result. Nieuw West lillies, that the artist saw in plentiness around the blue waters of Sloterplas lake, are sprinkled around a specific spot: a mountain. There are no mountains in the Netherlands, but there definitely is peace, calm, tranquility.
