Mountain Tops, East Of San Diego

Compared to her many paintings of people, animals, birds, still lifes and rustic, inanimate settings, Eileen did relatively few paintings strictly of landscape. While living on the East Coast, Eileen and Fred took sketching outings in the New England area, primarily urban. They were also inspired by numerous trips into Mexico. Upon moving to California in 1965, a whole new vista opened to Eileen. She discovered the landscape of the Southwest, and in this painting, more particularly, the mountains in San Diego County. Note the individual Eileen touch: the bird soaring over the mountain tops.
