A page from the the final printing that used the original wood blocks from Vesalius' 'De humani corporis fabrica', first published in 1543.
These figures were printed directly from the original blocks preserved in the library of the University of Munich, are now generally conceded to have been drawn by Jan Stephan van Calcar.
The wood blocks were destroyed in the bombing of Munich in 1943.
