Ferdinando Cospi, a nobleman from Bologna, established a Wunderkammer—a ‘Cabinet of Wonders’—in his home in 1660, later donating it to his city. This collection featured a variety of natural objects and artifacts, including the richly decorated Etruscan mirror, known as the ‘Cospi Patera.’ Though initially mistaken for a libation dish, the mirror's decorated side depicts the birth of Athena emerging, fully armed, from the head of Tinia (the Etruscan Zeus).
