Museo Civico Medievale - Basin with Galatea's triumph

Pope Benedict XIV (Prospero Lambertini) showed his dedication to Bologna by supporting the arts and sciences. He financed the purchase of anatomical specimens and modern instruments for the city's Institute of Sciences. These two basins, crafted from deer horn and ivory and donated by the Pope, are now on display at the Museo Civico Medievale.
