Giovanni Aldini (1762-1834) , a renowned physicist from the University of Bologna and nephew of Luigi Galvani, bequeathed his estate and a significant collection of scientific instruments to the city. Among his prized possessions was a device inscribed with the word "Batracoscopio", hinting at its potential use in experiments on frogs. These experiments supported Galvani's groundbreaking theory of animal electricity.
