Isabella Colbran, renowned for her exceptional vocal and theatrical talents, rose to become a beloved bel canto diva across Europe. In 1806, she was inducted into the prestigious Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna. In 1822, the renowned soprano Isabella Colbran married Gioachino Rossini, who composed several beloved female roles for her. Their partnership is beautifully commemorated in the recently restored Rossini-Colbran tomb at the Monumental Cemetery of the Certosa di Bologna. (Inv. B 28820 / B 38226)
