Students of Annibale Melone from Bologna who affixed their autograph signatures under the coats of arms of their family in the book entitled "La vita et metamorfoseo d'Ovidio". The Museo della Musica holds more than one Ariadne. The most famous is the one featured in Claudio Monteverdi's "Lamento" in the 6th Book of Madrigali (1614). A lesser-known Ariadne is found in a booklet dedicated to music teacher Annibale Melone by University of Bologna students in 1567. Each student contributed a dedication, their own crest, and summaries and illustrations from Ovid's Metamorphoses. (Coll. B.121)
