Namhansanseong Fortress

Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation

Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation
Suwon-si, South Korea

These fortifications, along with Bukhansanseong Fortress, were built to protect the capital Hanyang during the Joseon Dynasty. Due for designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the site has a tragic history as the place where the country was defeated during the Manchu Invasion of Korea in 1636, but is now set to take a new leap into the future as a global touristic heritage site.
