Founded by Philip V in late 1711, the National Library of Spain (BNE) is an organization responsible for the conservation and dissemination of Spain's bibliographic and documentary heritage. A recipient of legal deposit, it houses copies of every book published in Spain, as well as all types of documents: printed and handwritten books, drawings, engravings, photographs, sheet music, sound and audiovisual recordings, newspapers, magazines, maps, etc.
