Unique pieces of amber are prized not only for being impressive, but also for their shape, imprints and colour nuances, as all of this is actually invaluable scientific material testifying to the climatic conditions, flora and fauna of the Eocene period. Amber morphology allows us to learn about sap formation and how it was dispersed. The various shapes of amber, (icicles, pebbles, drops) point to the location on the tree where the sap hardened. The Sun stone is an example of trunk amber (3,524 kg).
