The Third C class of the Secondary school V. Bachelet adopts the Naviglio Martesana, a waterway designed at the end of the fifteenth century by Leonardo Da Vinci, during his stay at the Milanese court of Francesco Sforza. The aim of the interdisciplinary educational project was the study of the Martesana canal, which runs near our school so to guide students to understand how much it is important the importance for the whole area, both from a geo-scientific and historical point of view. It should be added that the project is important for many other reasons since all the classes of the Institute, from the first grade, periodically carry out a work of observation and knowledge of the Naviglio, examining the flora and fauna, representing and describing the environment, with methods adapted to the age and the educational path; so we tried to bring out in the video all the wealth of experiences and knowledge that is increased in the whole cycle. Specifically, the current third class made two educational outings in the first year, in autumn and spring, in which the territory was observed in the different seasons and the various species of plants were classified and described from the scientific point of view. The boys then tried to describe the same plants using a literary style, inspired by some texts in prose and poetry read in class. The Naviglio and its environment were then contextualized from the geographical point of view, taking into consideration the Lombard and historical hydrography, retracing the history and functions of the Milanese Navigli network. A scientific water analysis experiment was also conducted, which was then reconnected to the chemistry lessons.
