National Museums of Kenya

National Museums of Kenya
Nairobi, Kenya

The half part is made of aluminium neck ring with incised decoration. It is made by a blacksmith who melts down old aluminium cooking pots and then casts the molten metal in a groove in the ground. The resultant bar is hammered into a square bar and then hammered and scraped into the required shape. It is curved into shape by being hit round the neck. It is worn by old men.
