Neobotonia macrocalyx is a quick-growing pioneer of disturbed forest or clearings. It can be grown as pure stand for quick production of firewood, and restoration establishments’ in moist ecosystems.In Uganda, it is found in lower montane forests occurring in gaps, along streams or as pure stands in Ankole, Kigezi, Elgon and Ruwenzori regions.At Tooro Botanical Gardens it was planted in moist lowland section of the Research arboretum and in pure stands.
