A needle which may have been used for netting, but may also be a large sewing needle. Some recent research has suggested that long needles with small eyes may have been used to sew together the elaborate hairstyles worn by Roman women. The premise is that the bone pins commonly found on sites and described as hair pins would not have been adequate to hold the hairstyles together
