Choreographer: Peter Dockley
'Never Never Land' is a spectacle and an experiment by British sculptor Peter Dockley, and costumier Jules Baker. In this ballet, the relationship between the audience and the performing area is reversed. The audience is situated in the center and is free to walk around in this environment. Above the audience, dancers are crawling around in a large net. The dancers are slowly moving around in bright colored costumes, made out of foam. The costumes, which are very heavy, make it difficult for them to move around. With this unconventional ballet, Dockley wishes to deprive the audience of every possible identification to create a pure situation.
'Never Never Land' was performed as a collaboration between NDT and the artistic collective of the Eventstructure Research Group (ERG).
