Nike Davies Okundaye with Adire textiles

Artist and designer Nike Davies Okundaye is the founder of Nike Art Gallery. She here shows one of her many textiles on display at the gallery. Adire textiles at Nike Art Gallery, Lagos. Adire meaning 'tye and dye' are indigo resist dye cotton cloths unique to the Yoruba people. Adire designs are interwoven with the culture of the people. The preparation and dyeing processes are exclusively carried out by women.
