The Nintendo Game Boy proved to be one of the most successful products in the company’s history. The hand-held video game device was launched on the market in a plain grey-and-white version in 1989. Its robust technology, ease of operation and low battery consumption all helped to make it the biggest-selling console of the time. Although the Game Boy was initially only available with the game Tetris, strangely enough this became part of its appeal: it wasn’t just for hard-core players, but for everyone. The Game Boy was manufactured until 2002 and 120 million devices were sold in all. Photo: Jan Braun, HNF
