The background, hazy and in sepia tones, enhances the dreamlike atmosphere, while the architectural elements evoke memories of the old town of Mequinenza. The piece seems to reflect on the relationship between people and inhabited spaces, as well as on uprootedness and nostalgia.

Jesús Moncada (Mequinenza, 1941-2005) has been recognized by critics as one of the best contemporary writers of the 20th century. For many years, he combined his passion for literature and painting, which began during his youth in the Old Town of Mequinenza.
