Small nose plug manufactured from a reddish brown argillite. Curved, with flared ends; one end has a definite pit, presumably for an inset, while the other is only slightly concave. This specimen was recovered from a habitation area at the Pueblo Grande site; this area contained a dense clustering of pithouses underlying a later compound. Pueblo Grande was a large village located at the headgates of a major canal system. Occupied as early as AD 500, the site reached its greatest extent during the Classic Period.
