Miss R. Payten and Miss N. Shiel won the NSW Ladies Golf Union 1936 Country Foursomes Trophy by two strokes at the Lakes Golf Club on 25 June 1936.
Rose Payten was an outstanding sportswoman, best known for her achievements in tennis throughout the Federation era. In 1907, she retired from competition tennis after winning her sixth NSW Open singles championship among other titles. In the 1920s, Rose took up golf and was active in the formation of the Campbelltown Associates Golf Club, an associate member of The Australian Gofl Club and a long-time committee member of the Ladies Golf Union. She won the Ladies Golf Championship at Campbelltown Golf Club in 1930, 1931, 1934, 1936, 1938 and 1939.
