Milan, Italy

Antonia Longhi (1818-1888), lived in Landriano (Pavia) with her parish priest. She left all her personal possesions to the Maggiore Hospital. The commission of the portrait is entrusted to Amerino Cagnoni, who creates it with a photograph as a model. Perhaps for this reason the artist remains very attached to a rigid approach to the figure and the lack of knowledge of the benefactor's personality does not suggest more whimsical and personal solutions.
