The INDEX connections in the Computer Centre

CERN's INDEX system accommodates now a thousand links to computer terminals as DD installed line No. 1000 to a terminal used for the preparation of future LEP physics. Most of the lines connecting terminals on-site arrive at this point, from where they are redistributed to INDEX exchanges and to remote host computers. The rather anaesthetic rat’s nest of cables preserves full flexibility for this redistribution.
