The exterior of the oak chest and its curved lid has been densely covered with simple iron bands attached with large-headed blacksmith nails. The body of the chest used to be covered in sheet iron. The front of the chest has two gothic locks with concave curves and three hasp locks with loops. There are two small rings on both ends inside the chest for fastening it to the wall or floor.
